Wine, Star Wars and Patrick Swayze
Jun. 8th, 2026 08:22 pmWell, my classes are officially over, I'm graduating very soon. Maybe, that's why I've been doing everything else but thinking about it.
On Saturday we went to a wine event at the botanical garden. Thank god they pour you very little wine cus we tried around 20 kinds. I should be thankful I'm young enough to not have a massive hangover. My favourite is definitely the blackberry wine. Not that strong, and super sweet. There was live music, food, desserts, and, most importantly, the beautiful environment of the garden. The band playing was amazing, the audience was more lively than at some concerts I've been to. People brought blankets to lie down in the grass. Somethin something we yearn for community. People smoking, drinking, eating, laughing, dancing, talking, even sleeping.
Yesterday I watched The Phantom Menace. Can't remember when the last time I watched Star Wars was, or If I've ever done it more than once. Thought it was time. Yes, I'm mostly trying to ignore the fact that I'm not actually on a break right now and that I need to study. Anyway, really enjoyed the Darth Maul fight. I love a little bit of fight choreography, and I love Darth Maul's design. Wish we saw a bit more of him. Thought I'd continue today, but in the meantime I've convinced my friends to have a star wars marathon some time during the exam period (we are very responsible lol). Instead of continuing Star Wars, I watched To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. I cried, which is not really a surprise. Movies make me cry so easily. But there is something about this one that really does it. Couldn't help but think about whether my mother would like the movie the whole time I was watching it. Very unrealistic, even though she loves Patrick Swayze. Maybe that's why I thought about it the whole time. I think in some other universe she would have loved it.
All I can write right now.

Date: 2026-06-08 08:19 pm (UTC)There's lots more about Maul in the Clone Wars TV series, and some in Star Wars: Rebels as well 🙂 And right now there is a Maul series, though I'm not sure if it will go past 1 season.

Date: 2026-06-08 08:39 pm (UTC)I haven't watched any Star Wars series yet, but I'm definitely planning to. Seems like they expanded on the world so much, and I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot of new stuff. Could probably rope my dad into watching them with me. I think he has consumed all of Star Wars movies and series and cartoons that exist XD

Date: 2026-06-10 05:06 am (UTC)I LOVE To Wong Foo! It's my favourite movie ever! It's such a queer joy anthem despite everything they go through! Movies also make me cry easily so I'm with you there! Especially considering the feelings about your mother. I do wish that in another universe she likes it too.
